The application of virtual reality simulation technology in orthodontic education
Objective Due to the diverse and complex nature of orthodontic treatment cases,it is essential for beginners to optimize their learning efficiency.Traditional teaching methods are often limited in their ability to accurately replicate real clinical scenarios,resulting in suboptimal effectiveness.This study introduces virtual simulation teaching into orthodontic education and explores its instructional impact.Methods Our institution has developed a virtual simulation teaching system specifically tailored for orthodontics.This innovative system integrates interactive data from actual clinical settings into a digital platform designed for instructional purposes and student interaction.The research subjects were the 2018th and 2019th grade stomatology students of Nankai University School of Stomatology.The teaching effect was compared after the traditional classroom teaching mode and the virtual simulation teaching mode were adopted for the two classes of students in the same teaching content,respectively.Results Compared with the control group,the students in the experimental group had statistically significant improvement in teaching mode satisfaction,skill operation mastery,comprehensive ability and after-school test scores.Conclusion It is proposed that the implementation of a virtual simulation teaching mode in orthodontics education can markedly enhance the efficacy and efficiency of the educational process,thereby facilitating a notable advancement in the quality of orthodontics education.
