Changes and clinical significance of serum PCT,CRP and IL-33 levels in patients with bronchiectasis and infection
Objective:To analyze the changes and clinical significance of serum procalcitonin(PCT),C-reactive protein(CRP)and interleukin-33(IL-33)levels in patients with bronchiectasis and infection. Methods:Sixty patients with bronchiectasis and infection who were admitted to the hospital from September 2021 to September 2023 were selected as the study group. At the same time,30 healthy individuals and patients with bronchiectasis but without infection were selected as the control group 1 and the control group 2,respectively.Serum PCT,CRP and IL-33 levels were compared among the three groups.Patients in the study group were grouped according to the severity of bronchiectasis and infection.Serum PCT,CRP and IL-33 levels in subgroups of the study group were compared.Logistic regression analysis was conducted to discuss the relationship between bronchiectasis complicated with infection and serum PCT,CRP and IL-33.The area under curve(AUC)was used to represent the diagnostic value. Results:Serum PCT,CRP and IL-33 levels decreased in sequence from the study group, the control group 2 to the control group 1,with statistically significant differences between groups(P<0.05).With the aggravation of bronchiectasis, serumPCT,CRP,and IL-33 levels increased.SerumPCT and IL-33 levels in the severe bronchiectasis group were higher than those in the mild bronchiectasis group and the moderate bronchiectasis group.Serum CRP level in the moderate bronchiectasis group was higher than that in the mild bronchiectasis group(P<0.05).With the aggravation of infection, serumPCT,CRP,and IL-33 levels increased.SerumPCT,CRP,and IL-33 levels in the severe infection group were higher than those in the mild infection group and the moderate infection groups.SerumPCT,CRP,and IL-33 levels in the moderate infection group were higher than those in the mild infection group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis found that PCT and IL-33 were independent risk factors for bronchiectasis complicated with infection(P<0.05).The AUC,sensitivity and specificity of serum PCT were 0.897,75.33% and 97.64% .The AUC,sensitivity and specificity of serum IL-33 were 0.0.787,55.00% and 93.33% .Conclusion:Serum PCT,CRP and IL-33 levels are increased in patients with bronchiectasis and infection.PCT and IL-33 are of high value in diagnosing bronchiectasis complicated with infection.
