Study of Urethral Parameters in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Objective:To investigate the correlation between urethral geometric parameters and symptoms, including obstruction in patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia(BPH),and to evaluate the diagnostic and therapeutic value of ultrasound. Methods:A retrospective analysis of data from 220 BPH patients was conducted, including age,IPSS score, voiding IPSS(vIPSS),storage IPSS(sIPSS),quality of life(QoL)questionnaire scores, prostate length, width, transition zone height, length, and width. Results:Ultrasound parameters were positively correlated with age;urethral length had a significant linear relationship with IPSS score;proximal urethral arch height(Puah)was significantly correlated with IPSS and QoL scores;transition zone volume(Vtz)was a significant predictor of Pul changes. Conclusion:Ultrasonic geometric parameters, such as urethral length and Puah, are valuable in assessing symptom severity and obstruction, aiding in clinical diagnosis and treatment decisions.
