Effect of Heat Preservation and Slow Cooling Conditions on Crystallization Properties of High Nickel Matte in Jinchuan Group Nickel Smelter
In the separation process of high nickel matte, there are some problems, such as small crys-tal size of copper and nickel minerals and high mutual content of metals. In order to improve the separation effect of copper and nickel and improve the product quality, the nickel smelter of Jinchuan Group carried out the test of high nickel matte heat preservation and slow cooling. The effects of slow cooling conditions on the crystallization properties of high nickel matte were analyzed by TG-DSC test, particle size statistics,MLA and SEM test. The results show that the growth of chalcocite affects the mutual inclusion of chalcocite and nickel matte in high nickel matte.Under the optimum slow cooling conditions, chalcocite crystals with grain size of + 74 μm accounting for more than 98%can be obtained. The SEM test shows that the Ni content of the chalcocite area in the best slow cooling sample is 0.3%,and the Cu content of the nickel sulfide ore is 2.6%.MLA test shows that under the optimal slow cooling conditions, the monomer dissociation degree of chalcoc-ite and matte nickel in the sample is 93.97%and 86.58%,respectively.Compared with the on-site samples, the performance of the samples after controlled temperature slow cooling is significantly improved.
