Experimental Study on Iron Separation Process for a Low-grade Iron Ore in Inner Mongolia
The total iron grade of a low-grade iron ore in Inner Mongolia is 20.33%,and the magnetic iron grade is 13.05%.In order to develop and utilize the iron ore and determine a reasonable iron separation process, based on the study of ore properties, three kinds of process schemes were studied and compared, including pre-selection of raw ore by high pressure roller mill-stage grinding of pre-selection concentrate-single magnetic separation process,pre-selection by high pressure roller mill-stage grinding of pre-selec-tion concentrate-magnetic separation and elutriation combined process,pre-selection by high pressure roll-er mill-stage grinding of pre-selection concentrate-magnetic separation and flotation combined process. The test results show that the iron concentrate with iron grade of more than 65%can be obtained by the three pro-cess schemes. The beneficiation indexes of the first two schemes are equivalent and far better than that of Scheme 3,while Scheme 2 can obviously coarsen the second-stage grinding fineness compared with Scheme 1.Therefore,the pre-selection of raw ore by high pressure roller mill-stage grinding of pre-selection concen-trate-magnetic separation and elutriation combined process was determined as the best process for iron sepa-ration of the mine. Finally, the separation indexes of iron concentrate yield of 19.07%,total iron grade of 65.50%and iron recovery of 61.50%were obtained.
