Reduction Leaching Test of a Copper-Cobalt Oxide Ore in Congo(DRC)
The grade of copper and cobalt in a copper-cobalt oxide ore of Congo(DRC)is 3.93% and 1.52% respectively. The ore has high oxidation rate, less carbonate gangue minerals and good grinding dis-sociation effect. It is suitable to recover copper and cobalt by direct acid stirring leaching process of raw ore.In order to economically and efficiently recover the copper and cobalt resources in the ore,the reduc-tion leaching test is carried out from the factors affecting acid consumption and leaching rate. The results show that under the optimal conditions of grinding fineness of -0.074 mm 70%,sodium sulfite dosage of 32 kg/t,ferrous sulfate heptahydrate dosage of 15 kg/t,liquid-solid ratio of 3:1,leaching time of 5 h and pH val-ue of 1.3~1.5,the technical and economic indexes of copper leaching rate of 97.84%,cobalt leaching rate of 95.37%,gangue acid consumption of 35.80 kg/t and total acid consumption of 119.54 kg/t can be obtained. The copper and cobalt resources in the ore are effectively recovered by the reduction acid leach-ing process.
