Study on Process Mineralogy of Copper Tailings in Liwu Copper Mine of Sichuan
In order to find out the process mineralogical characteristics of copper tailings from Liwu Copper Mine in Sichuan Province and guide the improvement and optimization of production process in Liwu Copper Mine Concentrator, the elemental content, mineral composition, main mineral embedding charac-teristics,mineral embedding particle size and mineral monomer dissociation degree of copper tailings are studied by chemical analysis,X-ray diffraction analyzer(XRD)and optical microscope. The results show that the content of CuO,ZnO and Fe2O3 in the copper tailings is 0.14%,1.35% and 19.33%,respectively.The main metal minerals are pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and marmatite, with a small amount of bornite and py-rite.The gangue minerals are mainly quartz, biotite, muscovite, calcite and a small amount of chlorite.Zinc is mainly zinc sulfide with content of 83.93%,and other forms of zinc account for 7.57%.Sulfur is dominat-ed by pyrrhotite with content of 81.98%.With the decrease of ore particle size, the dissociation degree of pyrrhotite and marmatite increases. Therefore, improving the grinding fineness of copper tailings is condu-cive to improving the separation efficiency of zinc and sulfur in copper tailings.
