Study on Process Mineralogy of Rutile in a Copper Mine Tailings of Sichuan
In order to comprehensively develop and utilize the rutile in the tailings of a copper mine in Sichuan, the process mineralogy of rutile in copper tailings is studied by means of chemical multi-element analysis, phase analysis, optical microscope and mineral automatic analyzer MLA.The mineral composition of the copper mine tailings, the particle size distribution and dissemination characteristics of rutile, and the symbiotic relationship of the main minerals are identified. The total content of TiO2 in the tailings is 3.349%.TiO2 mainly exists in the form of rutile, accounting for 64.35%.The mineral composition is mainly rutile and ferroniobium rutile. The particle size of rutile phase minerals in copper tailings is fine, mainly concentrated below 75 μm.The-0.075 mm fraction of rutile and ferroniobium rutile minerals in the tailings accounted for 93.08%and 100.0%,respectively.Most of the rutile minerals and gangue minerals are intergrown and wrapped, not exposed, and the proportion of intergrown bodies is as high as 62.18%.The rutile in the cop-per tailings is a refractory mineral, which needs to be recycled by the combined process of gravity separa-tion-magnetic separation-electrostatic separation-flotation.
