Study on Process Mineralogy of a Super Iron Concentrate in Anhui
In order to find out the reasons for the high content of SiO2 in a super iron concentrate and the dissemination characteristics of its main minerals, the process mineralogy of representative super iron concentrate products is studied by means of chemical analysis, fluorescence spectrum(XRF),scanning elec-tron microscope(SEM),X-ray electron probe analysis and optical microscope. The results show that the con-tent of SiO2 in super iron concentrate is 0.338%,quartz is the main carrier of elemental silicon, and the min-eral content is 0.21%.Elemental iron mainly exists in the form of magnetic iron, and the content of magne-tite is 99.28%.Hydrochloric acid insolubles are mainly quartz, iron amphibole, calcium iron pyroxene and almandine. Most of these four minerals are closely associated with magnetite and enter the concentrate in the form of intergrowth, resulting in high content of SiO2 in the super iron concentrate.
