Experimental Study on Enrichment of Scandium by Precipitation in Crude Nickel Sulfate Solution
In the hydrometallurgical process of producing nickel sulfate from cobalt-nickel hydroxide intermediate,a large amount of scandium is enriched in the crude nickel sulfate solution, and scandium has high comprehensive utilization value. In order to recover scandium from crude nickel sulfate solution and minimize the loss of nickel, cobalt, manganese and other elements, sodium metabisulfite is used as precipi-tant to enrich scandium. The effects of precipitation temperature, precipitation time,pH value, sodium metabisulfite dosage and molar concentration ratio of copper to scandium on the precipitation rate of Sc3+in crude nickel sulfate solution are investigated. The results show that when the precipitation temperature is 25℃,pH=3,the amount of sodium metabisulfite is two times of the theoretical amount, the molar concen-tration ratio of copper to scandium in the solution is 0.6,and the precipitation time is 1.5 h,the precipita-tion rate of scandium is more than 99%,and the loss rate of Co,Ni and Mn is less than 1.5%.According to the laboratory test results, the production expansion test is carried out,and the precipitation rate of scandi-um is 99.52%,which further verified the feasibility and reliability of the process of precipitation and enrich-ment of scandium by sodium metabisulfite. The research results can provide reference and guidance for the enrichment of scandium in crude nickel sulfate solution.
