Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are chronic conditions characterised by relapsing inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Diet plays an important role in the prevention, development of IBD. But the incidence of food intolerance in IBD and its relationship with IBD are not fully clear. According to this study, we concluded that the average variety of food intolerance is significantly increased in IBD patients than in healthy control group. Crohn’s disease (CD) patients have more kinds of food intolerance than Ulcerative Colitis (UC). The incidence of food intolerance in small bowel CD patients is significantly higher than that in colonic CD and UC patients. Severe food intolerance may be the predictive factor for active stage of IBD and small bowel CD.
