Firstly,the spice model of the using PIN diode is improved according to the device datasheet to ensure the accuracy of the simulation results.Next,the differences of the working states of the PIN diode in the wideband radio frequency(RF)limiter in the frequency band above and below the transit frequency are analyzed,and the calculation method of the corresponding power dis-sipation is given to ensure the accuracy of power dissipation.Then,based on the filter principle a wideband RF limiter is designed with three pairs of anti-parallel PIN diodes.Finally,according to the difference of power dissipation in high and low frequency bands,the upper limit of the input power of the limiter is given.The measured results show that the return loss is greater than 24 dB and the insertion loss is less than 1.6 dB in the wide frequency range of 3 MHz~3 GHz.This wideband RF limiter can limit the 30 dBm continuous wave signal to 15 dBm,and can be used for input protection of communication equipment and measurement e-quipment with simple structure,low cost,and easy integration with other circuits.
