Study on the repellent activity of berberine on birds
In order to study the repellent activities of berberine on birds, the laboratory tests and field efficacy trials were carried out.The results showed that berberine had significant repellent effects on birds, and the repellent mechanism was taste repellent. In the laboratory experiment, when the rice seeds 1 kg treated with berberine 0.5 g(dosage of active ingredient),the refusal rate was 98.19%to Lonchura striata and 89.13%to Spilopelia chinensis. In the field experiment, when the rice seeds 1 kg treated with berberine 0.5 g,the repellent rate was 85.6%on the first day after sowing and 83.9%on the third day after sowing.Berberine was safe to birds, and had potential for development as a new active ingredient of bird repellent.
