Analysis of Digital Economy Cooperation between Japan and ASEAN:Progress,Motivation,Challenges and Prospects
Both Japan and ASEAN have a strong willing to develop the digital economy,and the commem-oration of the 50th anniversary of Japan-ASEAN Friendship and Cooperation in 2023 is an opportunity to further deepen bilateral digital economy cooperation.Japan regards ASEAN as a crucial partner to en-hance regional digital competitiveness,a potential market to ease domestic economic pressure,and a ful-crum for overseas supply chain layout to ensure economic security,and has created a new scenario of top-to-bottom strategic leadership,policy support,and investment expansion in digital economy coopera-tion with ASEAN,as well as synchronized expansion of auxiliary paths for digital economy cooperation with ASEAN countries.ASEAN views Japan as an important partner in promoting the integration of the digital economy,and has also taken the initiative to offer an"olive branch".At the same time,Japan-ASEAN collaboration in the digital economy is hampered by a number of internal and foreign factors.In the future,Japan will further strengthen its digital economy interaction with ASEAN by using offshore data centers as a highlight and cross-border QR code payments.
