Comparison on Structures and Properties of Domestic General Purpose Grade and Weather Resistant Grade POM
The differences of crystallization properties, thermal stability, mechanical properties, weather resistance and melt flow rate(MFR)between general grade polyoxymethylene and weather resistant grade polyoxymethylene were studied by polarizing microscope, differential scanning calorimeter, thermogravimetric analyzer(TG)and melt flow rate meter. The results show that compared with general grade polyoxymethylene, the tensile and bending properties of weather resistant polyformaldehyde are similar to those of general grade polyformaldehyde;impact strength, thermal stability and UV resistance have been improved;MFR,free formaldehyde and unstable end groups are reduced.Through the comparison of two kinds of polyformaldehyde, the difference of structure and performance between them is analyzed, which provides important basic data for downstream application and further development and upgrading of weather resistant polyformaldehyde.
