Effect of Screw Speed on Properties of IIR/PP Type TPV
The effects of twin-screw extruder speed on the properties of butyl rubber/polypropylene(IIR/PP)thermoplastic vulcanizate(TPV)under dynamic vulcanization process were studied using electronic tensile testing machine, thermal oxygen aging chamber,Shore durometer and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC).The results show that the crystallization temperature(Tc)and melting temperature(Tm)of the prepared TPV increase slightly with the increase of screw rotational speed,Still, the Shore hardness, thermal aging property and glass transition temperature(Tg)do not change significantly. When the screw rotational speed is low,the physical properties of the prepared TPV are poor. The elongation at break and tensile strength of the TPV increase with the increase of screw rotational speed. When screw rotational speed is 150 r/min,the elongation at break and tensile strength of the TPV reach the maximum value. When screw rotational speed continues to increase, the physical properties of the TPV decreased.
