Study on Optical Properties of Ultraviolet-Resistant Transparent PET Film
Under accelerated aging conditions, the optical properties of transparent polyethylene terephthalate(PET)films resistant to ultraviolet aging were studied using xenon lamp aging chamber, high and low temperature wet heat test chamber, spectrophotometer, and ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The results show that the photooxidation caused by ultraviolet light is the main reason for the changes in the optical properties of the PET film.In the xenon lamp aging test, the yellow blue value difference(Δb)of PET film shows a linear change, while brightness difference(ΔL),color difference(ΔE)and visible light transmittance all change slightly within 49 days of aging but dramatically after 49 days.Anti ultraviolet additives can improve the ultraviolet protection performance of PET films in the short term, but under long-term ultraviolet irradiation, the additives gradually decay, leading to the aging and failure of PET films.
