Whether Language Deficits are the Core Deficits of Autism Spectrum Disorder:Research on Residual Language Deficits in Individuals With Autism Spectrum Disorder Achieving Optimal Outcomes
Although language deficits are no longer diagnostic criteria for autism alone, they are still common in the autistic group.Studies have found that some individuals with autism spectrum disorder can achieve normal levels of cognitive and adaptive development and no longer meet the diagnostic criteria for autism, that is,they have attained optimal outcomes. However, the individuals who achieve the optimal outcomes still have some residual deficits, such as limited understanding and use of mental verbs;the development of syntactic ability is relatively backward;the narrative level needs to be improved. At present, the study of language residual defects shows the characteristics of wide scope, meticulous and ecological.
