The Role Transformation of Modern Deaf Education Teachers From the Perspective of Multi-Culture:Understanding,Reflection and Practice
Modern society has endowed the deaf with multicultural attributes.There is not only a division between the culturally deaf and the physiologically deaf,but also a conflict between the multi-family culture and the single school culture,and a confrontation between the beneficiaries of segregated education and the beneficiaries of inclusive education.Modern deaf education teachers need to think about how to transform their roles from the perspective of multi-culture.Modern deaf education teachers who work in the family,the special education school,and the inclusive education school environments should realize the transformation from the critic of deaf sign language to the advocate of deaf sign language,from the authoritative professional to the equal partner,from the educator pursuing equality to the educator pursuing fairness.Training institutions can help pre-service and post-service deaf education teachers to achieve smooth transformation through improving teachers'cultural responsiveness and enriching teachers'multicultural experience.
