Effects of L2 Grit on Learner Engagement with Peer Feedback:The Mediating Role of Writing Emotions
Based on a questionnaire survey of 201 English majors in China,this study explored the relationship among L2 grit,writing emotions and learner engagement with feedback in peer feedback activities utilizing structural equation modeling.It is found that(1)perseverance of effort(POE)of L2 grit could positively predict learner engagement with feedback;(2)POE and writing enjoyment had independent positive predictive effects on learner engagement with feedback,while writing anxiety had negative predictive effects;and(3)writing enjoyment and anxiety played significant mediating roles in the predictive effect of POE on learner engagement with feedback.The findings provide insights into L2 writing instruction and the cultivation of learners'feedback literacy.
