Development of acupoint electrical stimulators based on STM32
Clinical data indicates that electrical stimulation of the ankle-foot acupoints can improve the motor function of patients with foot drop and inversion after stroke and accelerate the recovery of their walking ability. This paper developed a portable acupoint electrical stimulator controlled by an STM32 microcontroller, which can output different waveforms, stimulation intensities and pulse widths according to the different rehabilitation needs of patients. The system consists of a power management circuit,a boost circuit,an electrical stimulation circuit,a microcontroller core circuit and a touch screen module. It is powered by an external power supply or a lithium battery and can output charge-balanced biphasic or pulse waves with a frequency of 1~100Hz,current intensity of 5~20mA and pulse width of 100~300ms.The instrument combines transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation with traditional Chinese medical acupuncture theory to achieve the purpose of lower limb rehabilitation treatment. It can bring better recovery results for patients with ankle and foot injuries or paralysis, and also provide a health care method for normal people to relieve foot muscle fatigue and promote blood circulation. The acupoint electrical stimulator based on STM32 has the advantages of being lightweight, easy to operate, safe and effective in stimulation, which has certain clinical value and can provide a reference for the development of future electrical stimulators.
