Clinical application of gastrointestinal ultrasound in critical patients
Gastrointestinal ultrasound is a noninvasive,real-time examination technique that provides dynamic imaging information to assess gastrointestinal tract structure,function,and perfusion,which can help in early diagnosis and the development of individualized treatment plans.This article reviews the application of gastrointestinal ultrasound to monitor gastrointestinal dysfunction in critically ill patients,guide the implementation of nutritional regimens in critically ill patients,guide the placement of enteral nutritional tubes and drains in critically ill patients,assess vascularity,and determine the etiology of acute abdominal disorders(e.g.,intestinal obstruction,gastrointestinal perforation),which is of great clinical significance.Gastrointestinal ultrasound is expected to become an indispensable tool in the field of critical care medicine.
