Comparison of the detection rate of two commonly used brands of dual-energy X-ray bone densitometry in standardized Chinese database
Objective The difference in the osteoporosis detection rate before and after the application of the standardized Chinese database(based on recent research results, the first trial)of two commonly used brands of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometer(DXA)in a third class hospital was reviewed and analyzed,so as to verify the application effect of the standardized database and provide theoretical and data support for the standardization of T values of different brands of DXA.Methods BMD results from out-patient Chinese patients over 30 years of age measured by GE-Prodigy from June 11,2021 to October 20,2022 and Hologic Horizon-W from October 1,2021 to September 9,2022 were collected. The T-values of lumbar spine(L1~4)and unilateral hip were obtained, and the detection rates of DXA before and after the application of the standardized database were calculated. Results The difference of L1~4 detection rates between the two brands before and after applying the standardized database was 136.99%and 4.58%,respectively.The detection rate of single hip was 58.69%and 22.99%respectively.Conclusion There were significant differences in the positive rates of osteoporosis between GE-Prodigy and Hologic Horizon-W.The application of standardized databases reduced the differences in positive rates between these two commonly used types of DXA devices in China and greatly improved the homogeneity of osteoporosis diagnosis.
