Application of polyester foam adhesive combined with thermoplastic film in radiotherapy for rectal cancer
Objective Exploring the clinical application value of polyester foam adhesive combined with thermoplastic film in radiotherapy for rectal cancer. Methods Select 80 colorectal cancer patients who received radiotherapy in the Radiation Oncology Department of Southern Hospital from June 2022 to December 2022,and randomly divide them into Group A and Group B.The patients in Group A were fixed using polyurethane foam adhesive combined with a heat-shrinkable film, while the patients in Group B were fixed using a vacuum pad.Perform cone beam CT(CBCT)scans on the patients in both groups before the first three treatments of the first week and once a week thereafter.Use an imaging matching system to perform soft tissue registration and manual correction, and compare the positioning errors in the lateral,head-foot,and dorsal-ventral directions between the two groups using the planned reconstructed images. Results The combined polyurethane foam and thermoplastic film fixation group had better errors in three directions than the vacuum cushion fixation group, with statistically significant differences in all three directions(P<0.05).Conclusion When rectal cancer patients require radiotherapy, the use of polyester foam adhesive combined with thermoplastic film fixation is superior to simple vacuum pad fixation, with good repeatability, reduced positioning errors, and significantly improved positioning accuracy. It has certain reference significance for clinical treatment.
