Objective To understand the average length of stay in the Breast Surgery Department of our hospital after conducting day surgery,analyze the factors affecting the average length of stay in the Breast Surgery Department,and propose im-provement suggestions.Methods A retrospective analysis of clinical data of patients admitted to the Breast Surgery Department of the First People's Hospital of Guangzhou from January 2021 to December 2022 after undergoing day surgery was conducted.Clinical data of patients admitted from January 2016 to December 2017 and January 2021 to December 2022 were compared and analyzed,and factors affecting the average length of stay in the Breast Surgery Department were analyzed,with management rec-ommendations proposed.Results In 2021,there were 2,787 admissions,and in 2022,there were 2,645 admissions.The aver-age length of stay in 2021 was 2.8 days,and in 2022,it was 2.85 days.The number of surgeries performed in 2021 was 1,497,and in 2022,it was 1,078.The number of admissions in 2016 and 2017 was 1,233 and 1,408,respectively,with average lengths of stay of 5.6 days and 4.7 days,and the number of surgeries was 580 and 625,respectively.After the implementation of the day surgery management system,the number of admissions,bed utilization rate,and number of surgeries gradually increased,while the average length of stay gradually decreased.Conclusion Optimizing the process of day surgery in the Breast Surgery Department can shorten the average length of stay.It is suggested to strengthen the management of day surgery processes,improve surgical skills,and enhance medical efficiency to reduce the average length of stay for patients.
