The archiving and shelving of medical records is an important foundational work in medical record manage-ment.This study proposes the core elements of archive shelving methods and analyzes the shortcomings of traditional archive shelving methods such as SNFS.In the context of the popularization of electronic medical records,based on the principle of local-ity,a scheme was proposed to separate the archiving function from the medical record number and add an archive number to re-place it.The scheme was specifically designed and implemented.Conclusion:While retaining the advantages of SNFS,this scheme fully utilizes the regular characteristics of archiving and shelving activities in the medical record warehouse,achieves opti-mization based on the principle of locality,avoids the shortcomings of SNFS,and makes the management of archiving and shelv-ing in the medical record warehouse more scientific.It is an effective innovation of traditional medical record archiving and shelv-ing methods in the context of electronic medical records.
