A review and prospect on acoustic data post-processing system:a case study of Sonar5-Pro
Interpretation of acoustic data is the key content of fisheries acoustic study.At present,the representative acoustic data post-processing software in the world mainly includes Sonar5-Pro(Norway)and Echoview(Australia).This paper takes Sonar5-Pro as an example and conducts research in five aspects:1)The 30 years history of the software since 1994.2)The designed workflow:a:pre-analysis,b:analysis and c:interpretation,with data insight occurring in the whole workflow,and five principles used in the software design.3)Nine analysis categories in the software and their implemented methods.4)General data processing procedures based on the study of vertical mobile survey.5)Three key technical features,including multiple target tracking(MTT),cross filter tracker(CFT)and image analysis.This study finds that a mature fishery sonar data post-processing system is large and complex,involving the fusion of multidisciplinary knowledge,including fisheries,physics,and computers.We should focus on strengthening the training of interdisciplinary talents in related fields,and fully understand and learn from advanced concepts and mature technologies.Moreover,based on the needs of various application scenarios,measures should be taken to strongly support the development of data processing software with independent intellectual property rights.The method of introducing,digesting and absorbing,then breaking through point by point and finally integrating innovation can be used as an important development approach to improve the ability and level of acoustic data analysis of China in the future.
