The Theoretical Quality of Xi Jinping's Important Discourse on the Purpose of Education
The 20th Party Congress report for the first time solidified the fundamental question of"what kind of people to cultivate,how to cultivate them,and for whom to cultivate them is the essence of education"in the Party's congress report.Among these,"what kind of people to cultivate"is the primary issue,reflecting Xi Jinping's important discourse on the purpose of education,focusing on the quality and standards of nurturing individuals.It is the core and essence of the education theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.Its content includes individuals who develop comprehensive qualities in morality,intelligence,physical fitness,aesthetics,and labor;socialist builders and successors;new-generation talents;pioneers and leaders in various fields.It integrates individual-based and societal-based value choices,possesses the basic characteristics of being people-centered and scientific,emphasizes the important attributes of value and functionality,highlights the temporal dimension of being contemporary and historical,blends the national and global spatial dimensions,and integrates the methodological principles of educational vision and short-term goals.Adhering to a systematic perspective to understand the logical relationships among the six theoretical qualities pro-vides a scientific basis and theoretical guidance for nurturing the kind of people needed to support and lead China's modernization construction,in line with the idea of"what kind of people to cultivate".
