New Quality Productivity Enables Agricultural Economic Resilience:Theoretical Mechanisms and Empirical Testing
Based on panel data for 30 provinces in China, excluding the Xizang Autonomous Region and Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan from 2011 to 2021,this study constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system to measure the level of new quality productivity and agricultural economic resilience, followed by exploring the effect and mechanism of the influence of new quality productivity on the agricultural economic resilience by means of the bidirectional fixed effect model and the mediation model. The results of the study showed that new quality productivity significantly increased the level of agricultural economic resilience and the finding still holds after a series of robustness tests.Further analysis revealed that new productivity mainly enhances resilience by strengthening the resistance and recovery capabilities of the agricultural economy. In addition,it was also found that new productivity could empower the resilience of the agricultural economy by promoting the upgrading of the rural consumption structure and enhancing the entrepreneurial vitality of rural residents, which possessed a significant role in promoting the resilience of the agricultural economy in both food-producing and non-food-producing areas, with food-producing areas being stronger than non-food-producing areas.Based on these,it is suggested to create a favorable environment for the development of new quality productivity, promote deep integration of new quality productivity with the agricultural economy, formulate differentiated agricultural development policies, and accelerate the realization of the strategic goal of a strong agricultural country.
