As an important part of funerals during the Han Dynasty,Fuzeng received much atten-tion from historians.Ban Gu and Fan Ye,who were writers, also recorded the Fuzeng rituals in the An-nals of the Former Han Dynasty and the Annals of the Later Han Dynasty. However, the two types of Fuzeng system were not written in the same mode.Ban Gu's Fuzeng writing emphasizes hierarchical order and emphasizes hierarchical ethics, demonstrating the construction of social ethical norms by im-perial power;Fan Ye's Fuzeng writing emphasizes loyalty, filial piety, righteousness, and Confucian morality, and depicts the interpersonal relationships in a society. The different Fuzeng writing modes be-tween them highlights different narrative ethics.Namely,Ban Gu's Fuzeng writing is based on political writing from an official standpoint, while Fan Ye's Fuzeng writing is a life narrative of scholars'awak-ened subjective consciousness. The different narrative ethics from Ban Gu to Fan Ye also demonstrate different aspects of consciousness of historical writing in different cultural trends.
