In order to transform China's backward agriculture,scholars in China began to estab-lish modern agricultural societies during the Wuxu reform period.Focusing on the Shanghai Agricultur-al Society,China Agricultural Society,and China Agricultural Society,this article reviews the develop-ment process of modem agricultural societies in China and the main activities of each society.It analyz-es the purpose,academic links,and academic exchanges of each society,and clarifies the characteris-tics of the development of modem agricultural societies in China.The establishment of modem agricul-tural societies in China accelerated the dissemination of advanced agricultural knowledge in China and played a promoting role in the development of agriculture at that time.
