Research on Adaptation to School of Left-behind Children and Its Influencing Factors in Western Region——Empirical analysis based on CFPS data
Using data from the China Family Tracking Survey 2018(CFPS2018),the relationship between the type of parental outwork, place of correctional supervision, frequency of parent-child inter-action and their school adjustment among left-behind children in the western region was analyzed by means of independent samples t-test and multiple linear regression. The study found that three dimen-sions affect the school adaptation of left-behind children in the western region:(1)there is a significant difference between left-behind children whose mothers work outside the home and those whose moth-ers don't work outside the home in terms of academic adaptation, and the attitude of left-behind chil-dren whose mothers work outside the home is slightly better than that of those whose mothers don't work outside the home;(2)left-behind children who stay at the boarding school are slightly better than those who go to the boarding school in terms of academics, behaviors, and emotional adaptations;(3)frequency of parent-child interactions has a significant positive effect on the behavioral adaptations of left-behind children, but it should be moderated.
