As one of the pioneers of the Kyoto School,KanoNaoki,inspired by the popular litera-ture research concepts of European Sinology,created a systematic and complete research system of Chi-nese popular literature through the literary materials of Chinese opera novels.On the basis of pure liter-ature,he fully defined the value of popular literature,and used the concept of literary history to clarify the development and evolution of the literary characteristics of Chinese novels and operas.Through the academic progress inherited from KanoNaoki and his younger scholars,a research pattern that closely combines the perspective of literary history,version verification and text reading has been formed,rais-ing Chinese popular literature to a new height.
