The Classic of Mountains and Seas is not only an ancient geographical work,but also an encyclopedia of ancient Chinese social life,which contains the ecological philosophy of Chinese an-cestors.The ecological philosophical ideas in The Classic of Mountains and Seas are mainly reflected in four aspects:the holistic view of the unity of heaven and man,the ethical view of respecting nature,the balance view of conforming to nature,and the symbiotic view of utilizing nature.They are the wis-dom crystallization of Chinese ancestors in thinking about the relationship between man and nature,and also an important cultural resource that can be used as a reference in building an ecologically civi-lized society with harmonious development between man and nature today.
