Unravelling the Mysteries About the Tablet for Ji Zhao Monk in Former An Guo Temple of the Tang Dynasty
Preserved in Xianyang Museum,the Tablet for Ji Zhao Monk in Former An Guo Temple of the Tang Dynasty describes the great monk Ji Zhao who attained a higher status both in royal Bud-dhism and in An Guo Temple in the Tang Dynasty.The inscription on the tablet was written by the well-known litterateur DUAN Cheng-shi,and its calligraphy was handwritten by monk Wuke who was the younger male cousin of the poet Jia Dao,representing the"Ku Yin"school of poetry in the Tang Dynasty.The inscription on this tablet is going to be written in official script and punctuated.The docu-ments including the records and philological studies concerning this tablet discovered on some other rel-ative stone engravings is to be summarized.The establishment time,movement of this stone tablet and its relationship with An Guo Temple is to be discussed.The important value of this tablet on the aspects of historical documents,literature and Chinese calligraphy art is to be revealed.
