In the Western Jin Dynasty,because of the revival of classical scholarship,the develop-ment of literature had always been adhering to the Confucian view of art and literature.The literature strongly restored ancient traditions.Zhi Yu is a representative of the retro literature fashion.After he came to Luoyang,he had close contacts with the literati of the Retro Literature Fashion of the Western Jin Dynasty.When he wrote articles or poems,he had a tendency to emulate the classics,and advocat-ed,"four-character poem is correct and the rhyme of elegant sound".Zhi Yu had discussed on the politi-cal and educational functions of poetry in literary theory,which promoted the development of the retro literature fashion in the Western Jin Dynasty.
