Xizang Tukao,a local chronicle at the end of the Qing Dynasty,included many prefaces and postscripts,which explained the background of compilation,the principles of compilation,the pro-cess of compilation and other important contents of the original text,and played a positive role in help-ing readers to understand the background information and understand the contents of the original text.By reviewing the writing time and collection of the preface and postscript in the local chronicle,as well as the individual writing of the preface and postscript text and the border cognitive writing,this paper interprets the connotation of the preface and postscript of the Xizang local chronicles in the Qing Dy-nasty with the theory of paratext,explores the value and significance of the preface and postscript of the Xizang Tukao,and deepens the understanding and comprehension of the Xizang Tukao.
