In 1953,then Dean Ouyang Yuqian,spearheaded the establishment of the Department of Directing at the Central Academy of Drama was officially established,marking a pivotal moment in the professionalization of drama directing education and its impact on the evolution of drama in new China.This paper delves into the developmental path of Ouyang Yuqian's vision and leadership in the quest for an education system tailored to nationalized directing.Its significance lies in the fact that even 71 years later,the contemplation and practice of nationalized drama creation and education continue.The understanding and construction of teaching system in"Theatre and Film Studies"are still expanding.As we progress,we need to revisit and draw wisdom from the foundamental ideas and experiences of our predecessors.
