Can AI Technology Empower the Service Industry to Improve Efficiency?—An Empirical Analysis Based on Interprovincial Panel Data
Artificial intelligence(AI)technology has certain exploration value for solving the inefficiency problem of the ser-vice industry.This paper selects panel data from 30 provinces from 2007 to 2019 to conduct empirical research on the impact of artificial intelligence on the efficiency of the service industry and its mechanism.Empirical results show that AI has a positive impact on the efficiency of the service industry,and further promotes the efficiency of the service industry by indirectly promot-ing the improvement of human capital.The analysis of regional heterogeneity shows that the promotion effect of artificial intelli-gence on the efficiency of the service industry is more obvious in the northeast region.The analysis of industry heterogeneity shows that artificial intelligence has a more significant role in promoting the efficiency of traditional service industries than that of modern service industries.The analysis of the heterogeneity of high and low service industry efficiency shows that the promo-tion effect of artificial intelligence on provinces with high service industry efficiency is more obvious.
