An Analysis of the Causes and Control Strategies of Slabs Falling off Square at China International Capital Corporation
Tiaofang, also known as rhombic transformation, refers to the transformation of the cross-sectional shape of the con-tinuous casting billet into a parallelogram, trapezoid,or rhombic shape when the four corners of the billet are not at right an-gles.At present, the detachment defect has a significant impact on the small billet, often accompanied by diagonal cracks,re-sulting in a decrease in the strength of the internal structure of the billet, and even leading to steel leakage accidents. In addi-tion,detachment can also cause difficulties in stacking steel in the heating furnace, making it difficult to bite into the rolling mill hole and prone to steel pouring, which to some extent affects the qualification rate of the casting billet and the yield rate of the rolled steel. It is generally believed that uneven cooling in the front area of the crystallizer and secondary cooling section is the main reason for the detachment, such as severe wear of the crystallizer, vibration deviation, deviation of the secondary cool-ing spray pipe, nozzle blockage, etc.,which may all be its inducing factors. However, there is relatively little research on the problem of square deviation in rectangular billets. Therefore, this article analyzes the process, equipment, and operation as-pects,and proposes relevant strategies to prevent square deviation in rectangular billets,in order to reduce the impact of square deviation defects on production.
