Study on the Modification and Treatment of Quartz Sand in the Preparation Process of Advanced Refractory Material
Quartz sand is an important refractory raw material in high temperature industry,but the purity of natural quartz sand is not high and the surface activity is low,which limits its application.This paper focuses on the mechanism and effect of physical,chemical and compound modification.The study shows that the mechanical activation-pickling compound modifica-tion can improve the specific surface area of quartz sand by 83.8%,and the SiO2 content of alkali melting-silane coupling agent reaches 99.9%.The bending strength,soft temperature and thermal shock stability of the composite material prepared by modified quartz sand are greatly improved.Modified treatment is an effective way to improve the quality of quartz sand and develop high-performance refractory materials.
