Technical Challenges and Countermeasures of Natural Gas Pipe-line Engineering in Permafrost Regions
The construction technology of oil and gas pipelines in permafrost regions is vastly different from that in conventional areas. The geographical isolation, environmental vulnerability, extreme climate and geological conditions in this region have triggered a series of new technological challenges. At present, there are preliminary solutions to the problems related to pipe-line cooling and transportation technology, interaction between frozen soil and pipelines, the impact of compressor station fail-ures,as well as design limitations, laying techniques, and monitoring system reliability, which will provide a new technical route for the construction of natural gas pipelines in frozen soil areas.
