Study on Interfacial Structures and Properties of Microwave Irradiated Modified Polyester Short Fiber/NR Composites
Polyester[polyethylene terephthalate(PET)]short fibers were surface modified by microwave irradiation process and silane coupling agent KH550,modified PET(MPET)short fiber/natural rubber(NR)composites were prepared and their interfacial structures and properties were studied. The results showed that under microwave activation, silane coupling agent KH550 was attached to the surface of PET short fiber, which was beneficial for improving the interfacial adhesion performance between PET short fiber and rubber matrix.Compared with PET short fiber/NR composite, the crosslink density, modulus and tear strength of MPET short fiber/NR composite increased, the elongation at break decreased, and the dynamic mechanical properties were improved.
