Influence of Homogenization Process Parameters on Physicochemical Properties of NR
With reference to the homogenization process of GB/T 15340-2008,the influence of homogenization process parameters on the physicochemical properties of natural rubber(NR)was investigated in terms of roll temperature, roll distance and number of roll passes through the rollers in open mill, and the applicability of the optimized homogenization scheme was verified. The results showed that, during the homogenization process, the roller temperature had no dependence on the room temperature,so that the room temperature did not need to be strictly controlled. The physicochemical properties of NR were not sensitive to the roller distance, but were more sensitive to the number of passes through the rollers. The Mooney viscosity of NR after 6 passes through the rollers was close to that of NR without homogenization. The optimized homogenization scheme for NR was roller distance of(1.7±0.17)mm,roller temperature of(25±5)℃and passes through the rollers of 6.There was no significant difference in the volatile matter content, plasticity retention and vulcanization characteristics of NR homogenized by the optimized homogenization scheme and the homogenization process of GB/T 15340-2008.The Mooney viscosity[ML(1+4)100℃]of NR homogenized by the optimized homogenization scheme was significantly improved. The optimized homogenization scheme was applicable in domestic laboratories, and the processed NR had good uniformity and repeatability.
