Influence of different loose tillage depths on soil properties and maize yield in Southern Ningxia
In order to determine the suitable loose tillage depth of maize in southern Ningxia,a field tillage experiment was carried out in Yuanzhou District of Guyuan city in 2021.Three tillage methods were set up,which are no-tillage(CK),subsoiling 20 cm(S20)and subsoiling 40 cm(S40),and the changes of soil physical and chemical properties, soil water storage effect and maize yield under each tillage method were analyzed. The results show that tillage can improve soil structure, reduce soil bulk density and increase porosity, among which S40 had the lowest bulk density and the highest porosity. The bulk density of 0~60 cm soil layer was 1.27~1.39 g/cm3 and the porosity was 49.07%~56.15%.Compared with CK,loose tillage provided better soil moisture conditions for maize growth and increased the content of organic carbon, among which S40 performed better.Treatment of S40 significantly increased maize yield, which is 21.67%higher than CK,reaching 14.54 t/hm2.To sum up,from the perspective of agricultural sustainable development, the subsoiling 40 cm is the suitable tillage depth for continuous cropping maize fields in Yuanzhou District of Guyuan city.
