Is the Tenderness Hardly to Recover?Semi-Acquaintance Society and the Transmutation of Rural Community
Traditional Chinese villages can be seen as a multifunctional community that has undergone significant changes in the process of modernization.Among them, the settlement community is affected by population mobility;the economic community is threatened by the disintegration of traditional economic structure;the political community changes with the change of village power pattern;and the cultural community seeks a new positioning in the conflict between tradition and modernity. The above changes do not imply that rural communities will also follow the logic of"modernization-tradition fading"and move towards extinction. The in-creasingly clear public private boundaries, obvious instrumental rationality tendencies, and a decrease in the total amount of social capital among semi-acquaintance help to the explain the transformation mechanism of rural communities. The devolution of nation-al power, technological progress, and changes in industrial structure provide optimistic prospects for the reconstruction and revital-ization of rural communities, and rural communities still have their rationality and necessity for continuation.
