The urban-rural income gap is one of the prominent issues on China's path to modernization.With the development of China's digital economy tuming to a new stage of inclusive sharing,it is urgent to discuss the theoretical logic and practical manifestations of the changes in urban-rural income gap in the digital economy era,and to come up with effective measures to narrow the urban-rural income gap.In the era of digital economy,digital technology,data elements,and digital infrastructure can empower agriculture and rural areas at multiple levels,forming a potential path to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.However,from the perspective of urban areas,digital technology,data elements,and digital infrastructure will have an asymmetric impact on the urban-rural income gap,forming an overall trend of contradictory changes.Since the reform and opening up,the overall income gap between urban and rural areas in China has shown a dynamic trend of rising in fluctuation before a continuous decline.After 2010,the continuous reduction of the income gap between urban and rural areas in China is highly correlated with policy measures such as promoting informationization and digital transformation in the agricultural and rural sectors.The path to narrow the urban-rural income gap in the digital economy era is mainly manifested in improving the application of agricultural digital technology,promoting the accelerated penetration of data elements,and promoting the popularization and application of digital infrastructure.
