Trade Potential between China's Xinjiang and Mongolia under the Framework of the Pilot Free Trade Zone
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the'Belt and Road'Initiative,the study of the trade potential between China's Xinjiang and Mongolia holds significant practical importance for deepening regional economic cooperation along the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor.The study constructs a trade competitiveness evaluation system using multiple indicators such as comparative advantage,competitive advantage,and complementary advantage to measure the trade competitiveness between China's Xinjiang and Mongolia.Additionally,based on sample data from 2010 to 2021 for China's Xinjiang and countries along the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor,the study uses a stochastic frontier gravity model to analyze the trade potential between China's Xinjiang and these countries.The results indicate that China's Xinjiang has a strong complementary advantage with Mongolia in plastics,rubber,base metals,and transportation equipment;and the trade potential between China's Xinjiang and Mongolia is categorized as potential-expanding.In the future,it will be necessary to enhance the core competitiveness of advantageous industries in China's Xinjiang and Mongolia,strengthen the complementary advantages of key industries,promote the construction of port channels by improving Mongolia's transportation and communication infrastructure to enhance the trade potential between China's Xinjiang and Mongolia.
