An Analysis of Gender Differences in Pride and Prejudice from the Perspective of Politeness Principles

摘要
本文截选英国著名女作家--简·奥斯汀的巨作《傲慢与偏见》中的对话来分析两性在礼貌原则运用上的差异。通过对比分析，得出结论：对话中，女性往往较男性更擅长运用礼貌原则，她们更加礼貌、合作，男性则往往忽略周全他人感受、无暇顾及交流的通顺性。了解到这一点，就能避免男女对话中的误会与冲突问题，从而做到有效、成功的交流。
Abstract
This paper intends to analyze gender differences embedded in conversations of Pride and Prejudice written by the celebrated British woman writer Jane Austen.It employs gender differences in applying Cooperative Principles.It is concluded that women tend to be more polite and cooperative while men are ignorant of giving considerations for others and the smoothness of communication.By understanding this, miscommunications can be avoided, therefore effective and successful inter-gender conversations are possible to be achieved.
