At present, most of the pupils think that the International Phonetic Alphabet is boring and hard to understand and learn. At the same time, most of the teachers believe that International Phonetic Alphabet is hard to teach in primary schools. But,primary school children have the strongest plasticity during that period and primary stage is an important period of the children’s English phonetic development. As a result, it is necessary for us to stress the importance of phonetic teaching in primary schools, and investigate the phonetic teaching and learning strategies in primary schools.
